VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT
The Government of Pakistan has established the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) through
merger of existing departments. The PBS requires the services of the following professionals, with
minimum age of55 years, ¡n Pay Scale MPI and MP-II for term appointment of fìve (5)years and four
(4) years, respectively extendable for one additional term with the condition that they shall cease to
hold office on aftaining the age of sixty4ive years or expiry of the tenure whichever is earlier.
Chief Statistician (Pay Scale MP-l) h\
The Chief Statistician (CS) shall be the Chief Executive Officer, and will lead and manage its team of five
senior Members and the staff of the reconstituted PBS, to achieve the strategic goal of establishing and
maintaining PBS as a centre of statistical excellence. The candidate will preferably:
. Be a professional with demonstrated technical knowledge of statistics and management skills.
. Have an advanced university degree ¡n a relevant subject Statistics or Economics from an HEC of
Pakistan recognized university, preferably from a leading International university.
. Have a profound understanding of Government statistical system and various national and
international social and economic issues.
. Have a minimum 20 years experience with atleast five years ¡n senior management position within
an organization of significant size/ importance.
r Member National Accounts(Pay Scale MP.Ur
Member, National Accounts will be responsible for planning, leading and managing all the activities
related to compilation, computation, analysis and subsequent dissemination and publication of annual
estimates of National Accounts of Pakistan, Trade and Prices, etc. The candidates will preferably:
. Have an advanced university degree ¡n a relevant subject Economics, Econometrics or Statistics
from an HEC of Pakistan recognized university, preferably from a leading international university.
. Have a sound understanding of economic statistics and national accounts.
. Have a minimum 1 5 years experience with atleast five years in senior management position within
an organization of significant size/ importance.
Member Support Services (Pay Scale MP.ll)
Member, Support Services as an important business partner to other four members will be responsible for
analyzing the information and operational support needs of PBS, censuses and surveys methodology,
field operations, and developing technological solutions to satisfy those needs. The candidates will
preferably:
. Have an advanced university degree ¡n IT! ¡SI Computer Sciences from an HEC of Pakistan
recognized university, preferably from a leading international university.
. Demonstrated ability to direct the design, development and maintenance of IT operations and
infrastructure of a large organization, including hardware and operating systems, and online
database, statistical and communication applications.
. Have a minimum 1 5 years experience with atleast five years in senior management position within
an organization of significant size/ importance.
I Member Resource Management (Pay Scale MP.ll)
Member, Resource Management will be responsible for providing efficient and effective corporate
support services to the PBS by introducing various organizational and technological changes in the
areas of finance, human resource management, administration, etc. The candidate will preferably:
. Have an advanced university degree ¡n a relevant subject human resource management, business
administration, finance or social sciences preferably Economics, Mathematics or Statistics, from
an HEC of Pakistan recognized university, preferably from a leading international university.
. Demonstrated strategic management, human resource management and project management
skills.
. Have a minimum 1 5 years experience with atleast five years in senior manag
